Over the past few weeks, HydaTech has been hard at work repairing bridges across four counties in Mississippi. Our dedicated teams have tackled a range of structural maintenance tasks, ensuring the safety and longevity of critical infrastructure. These projects have demanded a mix of specialized equipment, strategic planning, and innovative workflows to keep operations running smoothly.

Diverse Approaches to Bridge Repairs
Each bridge repair site presents unique challenges, requiring tailored solutions. For some projects, our teams have utilized man lifts, to access hard-to-reach areas of the bridges. These elevated platforms are essential for performing precise repairs on elevated beams and undersides. However, not all sites require such equipment—some bridges are more accessible, allowing our crews to work efficiently without the need for man lifts. In other cases, we’ve deployed snooper trucks, which provide a stable platform for inspecting and repairing the undersides of bridges. This combination of tools ensures we can adapt to the specific demands of each location.

Rapid Progress Amid Challenges
Hydatech has made significant strides in completing these repairs, maintaining a brisk pace to meet project deadlines. However, maneuvering these man lifts is time-consuming, as they require careful positioning to ensure worker safety and precision. This can slow down progress compared to ground-level repairs. By carefully timing operations, we’ve enabled simultaneous work on both sides of a bridge beam. While installers focus on applying repairs, a crew member below preps the next piece of fiber and other materials needed for the installation. This streamlined workflow minimizes downtime and keeps the project moving forward.
Beyond equipment challenges, our crews have faced environmental and logistical hurdles, including unpredictable weather and the need to coordinate across multiple counties. Mississippi’s humid climate and occasional rain showers can complicate outdoor repairs, but our teams have adapted by scheduling work during optimal weather windows.

Looking Ahead
Each project offers a learning experience to sharpen our skills—particularly the importance of coordinated workflows and adaptability. We will continue to explore ways to further enhance efficiency, as we continue to deliver high quality results. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and look forward to completing these projects after our break for Easter.
