Challenge
Cracks were discovered in a culvert under a state route in Florida. The pipe was structurally sound but a point repair was needed to rehabilitate the culvert. A trenchless solution was preferable to ensure minimal disruption to traffic.

Engineered Solution
Three Double-Wide HydraTite seals were the chosen solution. HydraTech custom-manufactured seals to fit this 5-foot by 4-foot culvert.
Scope
Two HydraTech technicians first drilled 105 holes for the anchors. On either side of the cracks, holes were positioned in a row, running around each interior wall of the culvert. Then the rubber and steel were positioned over the cracks and between the rows of holes. Achors were then inserted and hold-downs loosely fixed over the seal. The retaining bands were expanded and locked in place. The hold-downs were then tightened so that they held the retaining bands firmly in place. The crew of only two people completed the installation in only 4 days.

Solution
The HydraTite® internal seal was installed, the crack was sealed, and this trenchless solution had minimal effect on traffic. This repair was completed at a fraction of the cost of replacement.
