A pipe’s lifespan is often shaped the moment it is installed.
While newly buried infrastructure is often assumed to be secure, the reality is that loading, bedding conditions, installation tolerances, and early settlement can introduce stresses from day one. Over the following decades, increased flow demands, corrosive conditions, soil movement, and inflow and infiltration can compound those early vulnerabilities into joint failure, void formation, and in some cases, surface collapse.
In our latest newsletter article, we examine the lifecycle of buried pipe systems and the importance of recognizing when a pipe is structurally failing versus when it is still a strong candidate for targeted rehabilitation. HydraTech manufactured and installed a custom-engineered HydraTite® Internal Pipe Joint Seal solution for an Ohio Department of Transportation stormwater pipe project. By using interlocking rubber sleeves with stainless steel retaining bands, filling corrugations with Pro-Stick®, and completing trenchless installation in just two days without excavation or traffic disruption, the repairs fully eliminated infiltration and restored watertight integrity to the critical joints.

To resolve distinct leaks on a 39-inch Texas raw water pipeline, HydraTech combined a custom double-wide HydraTite internal mechanical seal for a deep pipe-wall fracture with an external HydraWrap composite repair for an accessible surface defect.

Legacy drainage maps show where water was supposed to travel when a system was designed, but not necessarily where it travels decades later.

Several stormwater culverts suffered reduced flow capacity due to debris that had built up inside. Field Services utilized a Jetter Vac to clear out the culverts and re-establish proper flow.
